Background and Aim : Acinetobacter baumannii is an important opportunistic human pathogen that causes a variety of infections as ventilator-associated pneumonia, meningitis, bacteremia, wound and soft-tissue infections, peritonitis and urinary tract infections. In recent years, multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as a major cause of health care-associated infection. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of A.baumannii strains in intensive care units (ICUs) of Firoozabadi hospital.Methods : ۱۵۱ sputum samples were collected from intensive care of Firoozabadi hospital. Microscopic and biochemical tests were confirmed for all the samples. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS۲۴.Results : The frequency of Acinetobacter baumannii in intensive care units (ICUs) of Firoozabadi Hospital was ۶۷ (۴۴.۴%).Conclusion : Examining the intensive care units of hospitals in terms of the type of bacteria and its antibiotic resistance helps physicians and treatment staff in prescribing effective antibiotics and controlling nosocomial infections. By conducting these studies, in addition to reducing costs for patients and hospitals, the mortality rate is reduced and the treatment process will be improved.
