Facial emotion recognition based on a modified brain emotional learning model

Facial expressions are considered as one of the most important methods of communication and human response to the surrounding environment. In the present paper, we introduce a modified brain emotional learning (BEL) model to identify the emotional facial expressions. In this model, after reading all the images in JAFFE dataset, the main components and the details of images are extracted using the principal component analysis (PCA) method. Then, in order to calculate the rate of emotional facial expression recognition, all the extracted features are given to the classification stage in the modified BEL model.
