Descriptive-analytical study examined the word "ascetic" in Iraqi style poets

According to two famous English pragmatists, Dan Sperber and Dideran Wilson, the context in which sentences are formed must be considered for the interpretation of the text. They introduced the Relevance Theory, according to which the poet or writer must provide the audience with the necessary amount of accurate, unambiguous and clear information. This descriptive-analytical study examined the word "ascetic" in Iraqi style poets, with a cognitive pragmatic approach with the aim of discourse analysis of phrases in the linguistic context. With a diverse structure and an explicit and implicit linguistic context, the poems of Iraqi poets try to criticize hypocrisy and remove the mask of hypocrisy of ascetics and those who pretend to be ascetics. In this regard, the use of theories such as pragmatics, especially the use of indirect speech acts, significantly helps to understand the term more accurately. The results indicated that indirect hypocritical and behavioral speech acts were considered as a feature of the term "ascetic". Behavioral speech acts, including hypocrisy, secrecy, arrogance, laziness, and unfaithfulness, were expressed using metaphors and lexical signs and appearances. The main speech act of the poems of Iraqi style poets is indirect expression by signs, which is used as a main trick to express the concepts desired by the poets. The Relevance Theory has been widely used in the poems of these poets and they have explicitly expressed the term "ascetic" and its characteristics.
