چکیده مقاله:

Chitosan is a biopolymer obtained from chitin, one of the most abundant and renewable material on Earth. Chitin is a primary component of cell walls in fungi, the exoskeletons of arthropods, such as crustaceans, e.g. crabs, lobsters and shrimps, and insects, the radulae of molluscs, cephalopod beaks, and the scales of fish and lissamphibians. Among the variety of composites of chitosan some important composites of chitosan like Chitosan- Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) Composites, chitosan-charcoal composite, graphite doped chitosan composite (GDCC), CS/PVP/f-MWCNT-GLU Chitosan- based composites, Chitosan–cellulose composites, Chitosan-hydroxyapatite composites have been studied. The review study includes the study of various Chitosan based composites and their versatile application as a adsorbent, antimicrobial acivity, biomedical applications and also for removal of heavy metal ions from waste water.
