چکیده مقاله:

In this study, polypyrrole (PPy)/hydroxyapatite (HA) bilayer coatings were applied on stainless steel. At first, PPy single layer coatings were electro-polymerized on the substrate. SEM images revealed a uniform and compact polymeric layer on the stainless steel and FTIR analysis confirmed PPy formation. Also, HA single layer coating was electrodeposited on the substrate. SEM images revealed a flake-like and porous morphology of the coating. XRD patterns revealed the formation of some octacalcium phosphate phase during the HA deposition. A PPy/HA bilayer coating was also deposited on the substrate using the double bath technique. Comparison of the corrosionrate of the single-layer coatings revealed PPy can better protect the substrate inside biological mediums. Also, the corrosion resistance of the bilayer coating was same as that of the PPy film. Based on the results, the PPy/HA bilayer coating takes benefits from both the corrosion resistance of PPy and the bioactivity of HA.
