چکیده مقاله:

The effects of compression garments (CGs) on athletic performance are the subject of a seriesof qualitative and physiological studies. A quantitative biomechanical analysis of the effects ofCGs could assist coaches and athletes to adopt these types of performance enhancementgarments. In this study, kinematic changes are measured using 2D phase portraits to study theinfluence of CGs on fatigue behaviour. This is achieved by comparing hip repetitivemovements with and without CGs during a running task. The local flow variation method isadopted to quantify the trajectory drifts caused by fatigue in the state space. The effects of CGson the complexity of kinematic changes are also evaluated using permutation entropy. Fifteenhealthy male athletes participated in the study and the results indicate that fluctuations in thekinematics are reduced when compression garments are used. It is also shown that adoption ofCGs results in a reduction of the rate of fatigue development and decreased complexities in themovement kinematics.
