This article using the documentary method to examines how metaphors in journalism creating emotional contagion. Studies show that diverse styles are used in different publications and news sites as well as news agencies, which can help to attract audience by being aware of different topics. Journalism based on metaphors and memes is a necessity and exigence with which journalists must express themselves and if there is no coordination, they will lag behind. A metaphor briefly describes and explains a subject and shows the main aspects of it. Metaphors simplify complex topics and phenomena by emphasizing their key points, and therefore play an irreplaceable and sometimes miraculous role in conveying the correct and enduring meanings of the message. Used correctly and appropriately in their place, they play the role of supporting information and sometimes they can convey concepts that are much more than their volume to the audience in the clearest way. Metaphors, especially conceptual metaphors in journalism, are mostly used in political and sports newspapers and have succeeded in creating emotions of fear, joy, danger specially in crisis. Metaphors and memes help journalists convey their message to the audience in the shortest possible time, which is very useful in online journalism.
