Introduction and goal :Since tuberculosis and diabetes have a significant incidence andprevalence in Iran due to various geographical, social and cultural reasons, this study aimed toidentify and compare the effects of these two chronic diseases, which are of different nature,on quality of life. Due to weakened immune system, bacilli proliferate and cause disease. Dueto the high prevalence of tuberculosis in the region, this study was performed to determine theepidemiological study of tuberculosis in diabetic patients in Rabat Karim. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from From April 1396 toMarch 1396 at Shahid Shatarian Health Center in Robat Karim city. Of the 195 diabetic patientsreferred to health centers and clinics who had clinical symptoms or suspected of tuberculosis, chest radiographs and sputum smear and ppd tests were performed and positive cases of activeauditory tuberculosis were immediately treated with specialist treatment. Results: Thirteen patients were diagnosed with tuberculosis referred to Shahid ShatarianCenter during the year 1396. All patients were 55.46 years old. Mean fasting blood glucosewas 191.93 mg / dL. Diabetes was associated with women (62.3%) and urban residents(72.8%). 86% of people had pulmonary tuberculosis (72.2% positive smear and 13.8% negativesmear). The most common clinical symptom of persistent cough for more than two weeks wasradiographic examination, weight loss, the most common image, pulmonary opacity (61.2%)and the most commonly affected area, the upper lung zone (51%).Conclusion: This study confirms the high prevalence of smear positive tuberculosis in diabeticpatients compared to the expected population in the world and the global prevalence of TB indiabetic patients. Therefore, this high-risk group, considering the prevalence of triple-stroke,is recommended to be examined more frequently than ever before by diabetic patients forcough and clinical symptoms.
