Patent Citation Network Centrality and Innovation: The Mediation Role of Inter-firm Cooperation

Today firms broadly use the external knowledge from inter-firm knowledge networks for their innovation. The objective of this paper is to explore the relationships between centrality in knowledge network and innovation. Based on the data collected from 95 firms from Canada Computer Peripherals industry, we show that centrality in knowledge network improve innovation. In addition, this study verifies that inter-firm cooperation mediates the relationship between centrality in knowledge network and innovation.
