The role of accompanying health in prevention, treatment, diagnosis, and self-care of Covid 19 from the perspective of nurses

Introduction: Considering the importance of using mobile health technology in the prevention, treatment, diagnosis,and self-care of Covid 19 and facilitating the management of this disease, it is essential to understand the attitude of nurses about this technology. Therefore, in this study, health interventions have been identified to focus on their functional capabilities that can help prevent, diagnose, and self-care and treat Covid 19 from the nurses' perspective. Although several accompanying health interventions can be developed to manage this disease, due to limited resources and increased acceptance of technology among nurses, assessing their perspective can make planning in this direction more effective. Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study performed in 2015 on 52 nurses in Iran. Sampling was easy (available). In this study, the data collection tool was a researcher-made electronic questionnaire consisting of 81 questions and had six sections. The first part included demographic information of the service provider with five questions; the second part included familiarity with mobile health technology in the form of one question, the third part to The sixth questionnaire identifies the functional capabilities of mobile health and the extent of their assistance in the prevention (19 questions), diagnosis (18 questions), treatment (22 questions) and self-care (16 questions) of Covid 19 disease. The questions from the third to the sixth part were in the form of a 5-point Likert scale. Five medical informatics specialists confirmed the content validity of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to evaluate the reliability of this questionnaire. Data were analyzed in SPSS software version 24 using descriptive statistics and analytical tests (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and t-test). Results: In this study, 58% were female, and 76% were bachelor or higher. The level of familiarity of 67% of nurses with mobile health technology was moderate and higher. Overall, nurses believed that mobile health technology could be most helpful in self-care (Mean = 4.07, SD = 0.53) and least helpful in diagnosis (Mean = 3.69, SD = 0.56). Findings regarding the role of mobile health capabilities in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and self-care of Covid 19, showed that monitoring and screening of community members using mobile health technology to prevent disease is the most helpful (Mean = 4.31, SD = 0.86) and Remote visit helps to diagnose the disease the least (Mean = 3.21, SD = 0.91). Also, the results of this study showed that the most assistance of mobile health technology in the dimensions of monitoring and screening (Mean = 3.92, SD = 0.50) and training and decision making (Mean = 3.92, SD = 0.54) and the least assistance in the dimension of new capabilities (image processing). , Chatbots, etc.) (Mean = 3.74, SD = 0.62). Based on the statistical results, no significant relationship was observed between nurses' familiarity with mobile health technology and age and education (p <0.05, CI = 95%).Conclusion: This study showed that although there were differences in nurses' attitudes about using mobile health technology in prevention, treatment, self-care, and diagnosis of Covid 19 patients, in general, these people had a positive attitude towards using this technology in these four areas. This study's results can be useful for mobile health technology developers and managers of health organizations to prioritize and design these technologies in the field of Covid 19 disease management.
