The effect of electronic health record in improving nursing processes

Introduction: Nowadays, due to its benefits, electronic health record has become one of the main pillars of health care delivery system. Due to the importance of nurses' role in health care organizations, this study aimed to investigate the effect of electronic health records on the improvement_nursing processes. The findings of this study can be used to design electronic health records to improve nursing processes.Methods: This review study in 1399 with Internet research environment and targeted search using keywords" Nursing," "Nursing Process," and "Electronic Health Records" in databases; PubMed, sid. Ir and Google scholar were done without a time limit. In this project, after studying the articles, a table was created separately from the information obtained from each article. Researchers examined the quality of the articles to enter this study.Results: In this study, seven related studies were reviewed, three of which were conducted in Iran and the rest in the United States, Korea, and California, and included topics such as; Creating an electronic health record as an improvement in the quality of care, electronic nursing report criteria, assessing the needs of nurses concerning electronic health record documenting methods and the history of receiving reports was an electronic health record and its capabilities in the nursing workplace. Studies showed that in 80% of these articles. The benefits of using electronic health records had been assessed according to nurses' opinions. Another 20% are currently discussing the empowerment and readiness of nurses to accept HER.Conclusion: The findings show that due to the high workload of nursing and the pressures of its work environment, after providing the necessary infrastructure to implement the EHR and empower the nursing staff in how to accept and use its capabilities by managers, the electronic health record can be upgraded. The level of quality of care improves nursing processes.
