The role of information and communication technology system in improving the quality of professional nursing services - a systematic review

Information and communication technology have been proposed as the central axis of change and development globally. Nurses need to increase their knowledge and awareness to properly manage the quality of nursing services and awareness of patients' conditions. This systematic review study aims to determine the role of information and communication technology systems in improving the quality of nursing services.Methods: The present study is a systematic review study on information and communication technology systems' role in improving the nursing service quality. According to PubMed, scholar google, midline, science direct, Elsevier, sid, iranmedex, magician, ProQuest databases, and after completing the search and evaluation of articles using a checklist, 478 articles were selected without a time limit until the end of 2020. During a systematic review and Elimination of cases with less relevance, 28 articles were finally included in the study and analysis.Results: Out of 28 reviewed studies, 13 were Iranian, and 15 foreign articles emphasizing experimental and review studies. Of the 28 studies (82%), it was necessary to note that the ICT system had significant effects on nursing service quality. Ten studies (88%) include clinical decision making, 16 studies (93%) the quality and continuity of cost-effective care, 13 studies (86%) include patient safety and health.Conclusion: Considering that human resources are considered as the primary audience of information technology. Therefore, to improve the efficiency of nursing services under the title of clinical care specialists and their scientific and intellectual promotion, the practical development of information technology in medical centers is necessary and undeniable.
