چکیده مقاله:

Nurses are critical members of the neonatal intensive care unit's treatment team and spend most of their time with infants and their parents. Premature birth and hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit cause parental stress and thus reduce parents' ability to care for their baby. One of the solutions to reduce stress and increase the ability of parents is their education by nurses. One of the most practical methods of training is telenursing. A review study was conducted to find out the importance of telenursing for parents of premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit.Method: This research was conducted by the review method in 1399. We were using the keywords "premature baby," "parents," "telenursing," "remote nursing" neonatal intensive care unit in various databases google scholar, PubMed, sid, magician, and iranmedex in search of Persian and English sources. We covered from 1990 to 2020. A total of 50 articles were obtained in line with the article's purpose, and according to the type of study, all articles were included in the study and studied. Results: Educating parents through telenursing increases their satisfaction and reduces their stress. Empowering parents using telenursing reduces the length of hospital stay and the likelihood of readmission of premature infants. The use of 24-hour video conferencing reduces stress and increases parents' ability to care for the baby after discharge. Tele-nursing is cost-effective for parents due to its low cost and good effectiveness. Meeting the baby through network cameras increases the parents' sense of attachment to the baby. Distance parent education with video conferencing and Internet resources enables more nurses to interact with parents. Tele-nursing uses smart mobile applications to increase parental self-efficacy and increase parental readiness to discharge their infants from the neonatal intensive care unit. Conclusion: According to the findings, most studies showed the positive effect of telenursing for parents of premature infants. Therefore, it is recommended to hold information technology courses to train nurses in neonatal intensive care units in various telenursing methods to increase parental satisfaction and the quality of care for premature infants and reduce hospitalization costs.
