The Effect of Apple on Preventing Colorectal Cancers

Background: Cancer is a major public health problem worldwide. Among these cancers, colorectal cancers which are the third leading explanation for death are extremely crucial. There are some treatments for such cancers that include laparoscopic surgery, more-aggressive resection of metastatic disease, radiotherapy, neoadjuvant and palliative chemotherapies. However, these new treatments have had limited impact on cure rates and long-term survival. On the opposite hand, apples are quite fruit which are possess a good range of biological activities which can contribute to health beneficial effects against disorder , asthma, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Thus, the target of this study is to research the effect of apple on preventing colorectal cancers.Method: an enquiry from 2000 to 2020 was conducted using multiple databases (PubMed, Web of science, and Cochrane) and using key words of colorectal cancer and apple to spot related studies regarding the research question.Findings: Totally 12 studies included during this review. consistent with the results of the reviewed articles, apple may be a potential chemoprevention agent or anti-tumor agent, cancer risk reducer. additionally , it's the induction effect on apoptosis, inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, promising growth-inhibitory properties affecting proliferation-associated signaling cascades in colon tumor cells which may contribute to reduced genotoxicity, enhanced antigenotoxicity and favorable modulation of GSTT2 organic phenomenon in some individuals. Conclusion: The results indicate that dessert apple can have a positive effect on preventing colorectal cancers. It's suggested that due to lack of studies in this subject in IRAN a study with this aim to take place on research projects.
