چکیده مقاله:
Background:Intravenous therapy is defined as a set of knowledge and techniques aimed at the use of solutions or medications in the circulatory system and includes various aspects of care, from patient preparation, selection, and access to peripheral venous access. In children, the installation of intravenous catheters indicates more invasive procedures performed during hospitalization in children and used for a variety of purposes.Method: This search was conducted in SID, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Google scholar, Springer with the keywords of Children and Infants, Catheter, Central and Peripheral Vein,Complications in the period 2000 to 2019.Findings:Vascular access is an important aspect in the treatment of neonates. Central vein cannulation is one of the most difficult techniques in pediatric patients for pediatric and anesthesiologists. Its difficulty is due to technical and anatomical issues.Studies have shown that these catheters use infection in infants below 1 kg in 11 cases and above 2.5 kg in 4 cases per 1,000 days.Another major complication is pain that decreases with age as children age. Conclusion:As a result, central vein cannulation is a difficult but uncomplicated technique compared to peripheral veination The rate of proven blood infection is similar and is recommended in pediatricians, except infants under 1 month of age, who should bestandardized by specialists.
