چکیده مقاله:
Back ground: Osteoporosis is a common disease in post-menopausal women, which generate a high burden of morbidity due to an increase in the risk of fractures. The nonmedicinal intervention for these cases is mainly exercise and diet. Dieting along with regular exercise is an effective intervention for maximizing or maintaining peak bone mass and preventing bone loss in this group, but it must be appropriately prescribed and tailored to the desired outcome(s) and the specified target group. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of nutrition and exercise on Post-Menopausal Osteoporosis.Search Method: A literature search from 2000 to 2020 was conducted using multiple databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase and Cochrane library) and using keywords of post-Menopausal Osteoporosis; nutrition; and exercise to identify related studies regarding the research question.Findings: Twenty-four randomized controlled trials met the inclusion criteria in this study. According to the results of the reviewed articles, a multifunctional training program such as soccer training, aerobic exercise, low to moderate physical activity, and whole-body vibration had a positive impact on lumbar bone marrow density. Furthermore, daily consumption of milk, using vitamin K, and vitamin D and N-3 VXSSOHPHQWDtion produced a significant effect on bone structure in postmenopausal women. Also, the duration of intervention may be an important determinant of the effect physical activity and nutrition have on the bone. Conclusion: These preliminary results indicate the potential for a noninvasive, mechanically mediated intervention for osteoporosis. Nutrition along with regular exercise is an effective intervention for maximizing bone mineral density and preventing bone loss in postmenopausal women.
