This essay is an evaluation of the rooftop extension structure in historic buildings to understand method of attachment of new technologies to historical buildings, it is important to find a way where old and new structure of the built environment can be represented in the future in a balanced way. Through the relationship between historic buildings and contemporary structure has always been a tension in the historic preservation field. In addition, historic buildings need to be extended regarding to their new function.Moreover, reliability assessment of existing buildings is in many aspects different from that taken in designing the structure of a newly proposed building. The effects of the construction process and subsequent life of the architecture, during which it may have undergone alteration, deterioration, misuse, and other changes to its as-built (as-designed) state, must be taken into account. That is why the evaluation of historic building often requires application of sophisticated methods, as a rule beyond the scope of traditional design practice and codes.Important issues that allows historic buildings and new rooftop extension structure to work cohesively, stably and promoting each other’s architectural and structural significance, are carefully examined. Therefore, new rooftop structure of two historical buildings are analyzed in this paper. Furthermore, this research tries to discuss the success of these new rooftop vertical annex. Two historic building with new rooftop extension, Aldwych House and 1010 building, which each building analyzed as, rooftop structure, chosen as case studies
