Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) method is one of the newest approaches in Direction Of Arrivals (DOAs) Estimation in recent researches. This method estimates the DOA based on gridding the angle space. In the DFT method, an increase in the number of array antennas enhances the accuracy of angle space gridding as a result. For this purpose, the virtual array is proposed to increase the number of the antenna array. Because of the dependency of this approach to the observations’ covariance matrix, we cannot extend it to moving sources as simple as immobile sources. At each direction of arrival, we need a bunch of observations to estimate the covariance matrix, however, in moving sources DOAs are varying steadily. Hence, we only have one snapshot at each moment. In this paper, we propose an intelligent method based on updating the covariance matrix. Our proposed method makes it possible to apply the virtual array technique to moving sources DOAs estimation. Simulation results show the improvement in the DOAs estimation of moving sources.
