In this study the dynamic of the composed planetary gear system is studied. The system is modeled as a set of lumped mases and springs. A lumped-parameter model is built for the dynamic analyses of the planetary gear. Each element is considered as rigid body and has three degrees of freedom in planar motion. The dynamic model of planetary gear system is established by considering the time–varying mesh stiffness and bearing properties. When planets of the single-stage spur planetary gears are meshed by new planets, the system is changed to the composed system with meshed planets. By the Newton’s second law nonlinear equations of motion are obtained under nonlinearities such as time-varying mesh stiffness. The periodically time–varying mesh stiffness of meshing gears is examined in the form of Fourier series and the finite element method. Moreover, natural frequencies and vibration modes of composed system are derived.
