چکیده مقاله:

This paper attempts at reflecting two psychologically referred concepts of alienation and displacement in thecharacter of “Aydeen” in the “Symphony of the Dead” written by the contemporary Iranian Novelist, Abbas Maroufi(2001). Alienation in alignment with displacement, more often than not, appears in studies in association with Culturalstudies, Psychology, Diaspora and Postcolonialism signifying and intimating a variety of impairs in an individual. Onemay undergo the feelings of anxiety, depression and impasse on account of tragic encounters and incidents which mayhappen in different phases of life. The present paper intends to primarily elaborate these two concepts and, then, ironically concentrates on the identity of the mentioned character living with his family in his hometown, whileestranged and distant. It is to explain the way and process by which Aydeen’s identity is built toward the destiny ofdisplacement and alienation.
