چکیده مقاله:

Surface roughness has a super effectiveness on the properties of some dental implants. One of the best ways to create a good surface finish is to use the MAF method. In this method, the abrasive grits are compressed to the surface and moved by magnetization, which causes the patterned surface and improved surface quality. This method has the unique property of polishing the inner surfaces and creating roughness patterns on the surface, which is very important in the applications of various implants. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of MAF polishing parameters on the surface finish of titanium implants. For this purpose, the effect of five main process parameters including magnetic field, polishing time, polishing speed, shape of abrasive magnetic grits and percentage of non-magnetic abrasive grits (alumina) on surface finish in titanium implant was evaluated as the response of the experiments. To this end, the dental implant is first mounted on a fixture and the magnetic field (magnet) moves with the help of a pneumatic’s cylinder and piston that drives magnetic abrasive grits onto the surface of the implant and the alternating reciprocating movement of this pneumatic jack with magnets and abrasive grits improves surface quality. To independently evaluate all the main effects and interactions and also reduce the number of experiments (due to limitations in laboratory facilities and costs) the experiments are designed according to the DOE design method. The results showed that among the parameters affecting the MAF process, the shape of the magnetic abrasive grits and the magnetic field were the most influential. And the interaction of these two parameters is also important. In contrast, the amount of non-magnetic abrasive girts (alumina) has little effect on the process, and statistical analysis confirms the accuracy of the experiments.
