Intervention group received conventional drug therapy along with acceptance and commitment therapy and the control group received conventional drug treatment along with psychological intervention. The results of three phases of pre-test, post-test and follow-up were evaluated. Data were collected by the McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ), the work and social adjustment scale (WSAS) and chronic pain acceptance questionnaire (CPAQ). The results demonstrate that, acceptance and commitment therapy could improve chronic pain acceptance, chronic pain perception, and socio-occupational compatibility in the intervention group as compared to controls. Acceptance and commitment therapy can be used as a psychological intervention along with drug therapy to improve acceptance and perception of pain and consequently improve adaptation in diabetic patients.
