These days the world is witnessing an increasing need to tunnels for their unique features and potential use. Tunnels are artificial underground spaces which provide a capacity for special purposes such as transferring water, transportation tunnels and mine. There is not any specific way of excavation for tunnels and usually two or more ways are used. Underground projects are generally complicated projects with many effective factors like changeable conditions of the earth, therefore; the completion of project within the determined framework that is, time, expense, quality and safety, requires to know different ways of excavating analysis and ultimately ranking in order to response them.One of the factors affecting the speed of progression and the expense of running of tunnel construction projects is to choose the appropriate method of excavation. This study attempts to choose the most appropriate method for excavation transferring water tunnel among the four choices such as excavation with Roodheder, excavation with TBM, excavation of multi-stage and excavation with flaming method. Since different technical and economic parameters have influenced on this decision, Analytical Hierarchy Procedure (AHP) has been used to choose the best choice.Then, questionnaires are prepared on paired compare of these method and factors affecting them.The questionnaires are completed through field data collection by experts and the results were analyzed using Analytical Hierarchy Procedure method (AHP) and with the help of Expert Choice software. After studies done, using TBM method considering the kind of ground, tunnel three of golab was proved as a superior alternative.
