Developing a new material with efficient adsorption of heavy metal ions has become a hot focus of the academic community recently. In the present work, Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin-polyurethane magnetic nanoconjugates/Reduced graphene oxide (HPMNPU/GO) supramolecules were prepared from Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin-polyurethane magnetic nanoconjugates and reduced graphene oxide (RGO). The adsorbent was characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The adsorbent was evaluated for its efficiency to remove Pb2+ ions from aqueous solutions through batch adsorption studies. A goodagreement between experimental and predicted data was achieved that proved the efficiency of this model for prediction of real optimum point. The batch experiment implied that the pseudo-second-order model (lowest sum of square error (SSE) values and correlation coefficients (R2) > 0.999) was better to describe the adsorption kinetics of Pb2+ onto the HPMNPU/GO. The adsorption levels of Pb2+ onto the HPMNPU/GO were in accordance with the Langmuir isotherm with maximum adsorption capacities of 1399 mg.g-1.
