Manifestation of sacred art in architectural decorations of mosques (With an overview on Isfahan’s mosques)

This research is on to manifest the sacred art in architectural decoration of mosques, with an overview on Isfahan’s mosques. To understand the concept of sacred art is the most important purpose of this research. To achieve the manifestation of sacred art in architectural decorations of mosques, and to investigate the features of Isfahan’s mosques are the other purposes of this research. This research according to the purpose is theoretical, according to the nature is analytical-descriptive, and according to the data collecting method is library-documentary. The method of analyzing is qualitative. Some questions have proposed in this research. The most important question is: how can we define the relation between sacred art and Islamic architectural decorations , and also: how does the sacred art manifest in Isfahan’s mosques architecture , the results indicated that Isfahan’s mosques, including Jame mosque, and Imam mosque are the most important works of architecture in sacred art fields. Understanding the sacred art is based on recognizing figures or in other words, understanding the latent symbolism in figures. The architecture of Isfahan’s Jame mosque, is full of Shi’ism because of its religious nature. In the architecture of Isfahan’s Imam Mosque, observing orders and considering the truth, are supposed as the sacred elements.
