The Role of Attachment Styles in Prediction Academic Well-being in Medical Science Students

Due to the studentship stressful factors and challenging clinical conditions and internship, the medical science students undergo emotional exhaustion and academic burnout. The outcomes might, also, negatively affect their academic well-being and functions. The aim of this study was to predict the academic well-being of the medical science students based on the attachment styles. In the correlational study, the medical science students of Babol University of Medical Sciences were studied in the academic year 2014-15. 200 students were selected via available sampling. Data was collected using Pietarinen & et al academic well-being and Bartholomew & Horowitz attachment styles questionnaires. Data was analyzed by SPSS 21 software using multivariate regression tests. The attachment styles; secure, preoccupied, fearful and detached could predict 16% of the variance of academic well-being of medical science (P<0.05). The attachment styles play an important role to determine the academic well-being of medical science students.
