Novel magnetic functionalized graphene/Fe3O4 hybrid adsorbent was prepared and characterized using different techniques. The prepared adsorbent was applied for the removal of lead ions from aqueous solution. Both equilibrium and kinetic behaviors were experimentally assessed, and the influential factors such as pH, contact time, and adsorbent dosage were examined. Thermodynamic parameters were evaluated to understand the nature of sorption process for Pb(II) ions. The regeneration study of the adsorbent was also reported here. The functionalized graphene/Fe3O4 hybrid offers high capacity and strong sorption of Pb(II) ions and efficient magnetic recovery of adsorbent. Therefore, this hybrid could be a good candidate for removing Pb(II) ions from wastewater, and the study provides a simple and effective route for the development of new environmental remediation nanomaterials.
