چکیده مقاله:

Advancements in offshore industry especially deep-water development show that Steel Catenary Riser can offer great advantages over other types of risers especially in high temperature and corrosive environments. Steel Catenary Risers use stress joints to provide the necessary stiffness for the hang-off region. Titanium stress joint reduces axial and bending stress caused by cyclic loads which can highly impact stress joints in deep-water risers. In this article, a titanium stress joint has been modeled to investigate the fatigue life at various hanging-off angles and in 14 different sea states to replicate the effects that a titanium stress joint will encounter in operation due to the impact of the waves and currents. The modeling process and results obtained from Orca-Flex are presented by focusing on both the touch down point and the hang-off point to gain an understanding of fatigue life throughout the whole length of the riser.
