Identifying Affecting Factors on Environmental Sustainability of Mines in Iran using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)

This paper assesses the most important factors regarding environmental sustainability of mines in Iran. To fulfil this aim, after a comprehensive study through interviewing professors and library investigation, four factors have been selected and surveyed by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) questionnaires sent to four experts in mining industry with over 12 years of professional experience. The results indicate that Management Practices are the most important factor with inconsistency level of 0.00758. Finally, the resulting values has been discussed and some appropriate solutions concerning improving the environmental sustainability have been introduced.
