چکیده مقاله:
Background: Abortion means the end of pregnancy, whether it is intentional before it reaches the embryo, to evolve enough to survive (before the 20th week of pregnancy or weighing less than 500 grams at birth). People who have abortions are more likely to be injured than others. Considering the importance of counseling in abortion patients, the present review study aimed to investigate the bio-psycho-social effect of counseling on women who are candidates for abortion. Methods: This study is a narrative review. In this study, the researcher initially looked at the Google Scholar database and more specifically in Persian databases SID, Magiran and the English databases PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Cochran, with using the combination of keywords Abortion therapy, Criminal abortion, Counseling and its Persian equivalent, from 2008 to 2018 searched for related articles. Results: The results of this study were categorized in three main categories:Bio effect of counseling includes: Increasing the use of contraceptive methods, reducing unwanted pregnancy, reducing somatophormic disorders. Psycho effect of counseling includes: Decreased depression, stress, anger, anxiety, fatigue, post traumatic stress and severity and duration of suicide. social effect of counseling includes: Increased decisiveness in decision making, increased access to information needed, increased desire for post-abortion counseling. Conclusion: Counseling as a non-invasive intervention is effective in controlling and preventing abortion problems in women candidates for abortion.Message for policymakers: Considering the importance of abortion counseling and its positive consequences on maternal health, therefore it is suggested that health care providers, especially midwives, reduce the severity of complications by developing counseling programs, as well as identifying at-risk women, and sometimes even referring them to counseling centers.
