Push Technology and Traditional Libraries

Purpose: Over the past decade and a half, reference and information services have increasingly moved away from library reference desks and away from libraries’ print collections into the electronic world. Research questions related to the changing reference and information services environment: If librarians could improve reference & information services by alert & folksonomy systems And the purpose is: Increasing use of library.Methodology: in this article was used Experimental survey, by data mining and typically, analysis of the resulting coding scheme leads to the creation of a typology, model, analogy, or other method of presenting the data. In fact, this is a library project that librarians managed and analyzed information needs of users, they used data mining. This project is done in library of Institute for Productivity and Human Resource Development that had 205 experts and manager (hereafter, we called them expert or library users totally) All of them were members of the project population, but 10 person didn t participate, so its sample was 195 people.Findings: there were some problems: Some of keywords/ phrases were general, they included several areas, some of the users didn’t fill her/his profile, Homonyms and synonyms, Wrong spelling; the resources were shared between several topic groups and several experts; Lack of any subject hierarchy;… ;Value: The library usage was approximately three times over. So, by running this project library could be successful in its purpose and could propose new reference & information services.
