چکیده مقاله:
Background: Mosquitoes are considered as the vectors of dirofilariasis and some vector borne disease in Iran. Objectives: The susceptibility level of Culex pipiens & Aedes caspius larvae collected from different breeding places of suburban and urban areas of Ahvaz city was determined against chlorpyrifos-methyl.Materials and Methods: The larvae were collected from different breeding places using dipping method during 2016-2017. They were kept for 24 hours in laboratory and the four instar larvae used for bioassay. The tests were performed as recommended by World Health Organization. After each test, the live and dead larvae were counted and transferred to lacto phenol solution for identification. Results: Chlorpyrifos-methyl at concentration of 0.005 and 0.025 mg/ml showed 29% and 81 % mortality for Cx. pipiens and 31%, 83% For Ae. caspius respectively. In addition, a commercial product of Chlorpyrifos-methyl (22.5%) at concentrations of 0.0002, 0.001. 0.005, 0.025 mg/ml were used to find susceptibility of the larvae. The larvae of both species showed 100% mortality at concentrations of 0.005 and 0.025 mg/ml.Conclusion: Based on the result of this study the larvae of Cx. pipiens & Ae. caspius is susceptible to commercial Chlorpyrifos-methyl and the larvicides could be recommended for field control
