Karo Lucas Ghukasian (September 4, 1949 – July 8, 2010) was an Iranian electrical and electronics engineer, professor at the University of Tehran, and inventor.

Karo Lucas completed his elementary education at an Armenian school and received his high school diploma in mathematics in 1968. That same year, he was admitted with high honors to the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tehran and graduated with a master's degree in electrical and electronics engineering in 1973 (in three years). In 1976, Lucas received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science with a focus on control engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Lucas conducted research in intelligent systems and was the founder and director of the "Control and Intelligent Processing Center of Excellence" at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Tehran, and head of its Electrical Engineering Department, as well as the director of the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences.

In addition to teaching and conducting research at the University of Tehran’s engineering faculties, he was a visiting professor at the University of Toronto, Berkeley, and UCLA; a researcher at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics and the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Trieste, Italy; a research assistant at the Ontario Research and Development Company; and a research assistant at the Electronics Research Laboratory at the University of California. Lucas was renowned in Iran for his contributions to artificial intelligence and robotics, and after his death, he was remembered as the "Father of Robotics in Iran."
