چکیده

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection is the most commonly diagnosed sexually transmitted disease.Studies demonstrated that worldwide point-prevalence of HPV is approximately 10 percent. Theprevalence of cervical HPV infections decrease sharply after the age of 30. Those with persistent infectionare at the highest risk of the development of high grade squamous intraepithelial lesions or invasivecervical cancer.Factors associated with prevalent, human Papilloma virus (HPV) infection in men include HIV infection, current and past sexual behavior, number of sex partners and absence of condom use, prior sexuallytransmitted disease, race, and ethnicity and circumcision status.Persistent viral infection with high-risk HPV genotypes also causes virtually all cancers of the cervix. Thesegenotypes also cause the most cases of vulvar, vaginal, anal cancers and significant portion oropharyngealcancer in men and women. HPV 16, 11 (Low risk) also cause 90% of genital warts in men and women.Introduction of HPV vaccination has been associated with declines in HPV prevalence and influence. Threedifferent vaccines, which vary in the number of HPV types they contain are available. Excellent antibodyresponses have been reported following immunization with both quadrivalent and bivalent vaccines.Whereas HPV infection is common among men and women, current discussion will answer commonquestions about HPV.These are include; Risk –factors, Routes of transmission and protection, infection in men (sites ofinfection, clinical manifestation, tests for detection), treatment and recurrence, recommendations forHPV immunization in females and men, safety and efficacy of HPV vaccines, common questions aboutcervical cancer screening.
