The Effect of Individual Counseling on the Rate of Maternal Involvement in Decision Making in the Treatment Process Clinical Trial

چکیده

Backgrounds: Due to the high Sensitivity of pregnancy and the vulnerability of mothers during this period adds to the importance of their participation in clinical decisions. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of individual counseling based on education on the participation of pregnant women decision making in the treatment.Material and Method: This study was a randomized controlled trial that was conducted in 2018 on eligible women with that they had referred to Kosar maternity center in Qazvin. The subjects were randomly assigned to two intervention (95) and control (95) groups. Intervention was conducted in one 60-minute individual counseling sessions. With SDM-Q-9 Shared Decision Making questionnaire, was assessed. Independent t-test and paired t-test with a significant level of less than (0.05) were used to compare the mean scores in the two groups.Result: The mean age of pregnant women in the intervention group was 28.6 and in the control group it was 27.5. Two groups in terms of age, Gestational age, education, pariety, number of births, abortion, infertility, Participate in childbirth classes, Wanted pregnancy, were no significant differences. After the intervention, the comparison of the mean score of the participation of mothers in decision making between the two groups showed a significant difference (P = 0.001). Using the cut-off point method and the frequency distribution of participation rate of mothers in the experimental and control groups after intervention was significant.Conclusion: Individual counseling increases the participation of pregnant mothers. As a result, it can be used as an effective and appropriate intervention to increase the participation rate of mothers.
