Reducing Cement Setting Critical Times Using Gel-strength Modifying Agents and Analysis of the Designed Slurries Regarding to Gas Flow

چکیده
Gas migration through cement slurries is one of the well completion major challenges. A few psi pressure increment to blow out are consequences of gas invasion which result in financial and environmental damages in addition to the risk of fatal incidents. Researchers have tried to present a criterion to compare the performance of different slurry formulations regarding to gas flow. SRN is one of these methods which was discussed and modified in this study. Many additives have been used and introduced for the purpose of cement slurry design modification. In this study, the effect of a liquid gel strength-modifying agent on several parameters including critical hydration time, cement transition time and gel strength development of slurries are investigated using an experimental approach as a case study. According to the test results gel strength profile of the cement slurry was improved significantly. Also cement transition time was cut from 305 minutes to 55 minutes and critical hydration time was diminished from 185 minutes to 10 minutes, which reveals the excellent performance of this type of agent in controlling gas migration. It was likewise observed that cement system filtration volume was reduced using this type of additive.کلیدواژه ها
