چکیده

The behavior of aqueous solutions of the electrolytes is of interest because their importance in areas such as chemistry, biology, process engineering, desalination and atmospheric processes. Besides,interactions of electrolytes with saccharides are very important not only in exploration of the stability of polysaccharides in biological systems but also in the chemical industry of saccharides and the treatment of waste containing saccharides. In this work, the results relating to the mean activity coefficient measurements for KCl in (Sucrose + Water) mixtures using the potentiometric method are reported. The mean activity coefficient of KCl in the KCl + Sucrose + Water system were determined on a galvanic cell containing a solvent polymeric (PVC) K+- ISE and Ag/AgCl electrodes at T = 298.15 K. We have reported in our previous papers the ability of the solvent polymeric membrane electrode for determination of activity coefficient for binary and ternary electrolyte solutions [1-3 ] . In the present study, we report the determination of activity coefficient for KCl in various Sucrose / Water mixed solvent systems containing 0,20and 40 % mass fraction of Sucrose over ionic strength range 0.0001 to 4 (mol/kg) . The modeling of this ternary system was based on Pitzer ion-interaction model and the resulting values of the mean activity coefficients, osmotic coefficients and excess Gibbs free energies were reported for the series under investigated systems.
