چکیده
The interaction between polymers and surfactant in aqueous solutions has become a very interesting topic for widespread application as well as theoretical studies and has been investigated for several decades and extensively documented [1]. Surfactants may bind cooperatively to nonionic water-soluble polymers to form micelle-polymer complesxes, [2-4] and these interactions are largely confined to anionic surfactants. There are various techniques for the investigation of polymer-surfactant comples formation such as:electron spin resonance, NMR, EPR, ultraviolet spectrum, viscosity measurement, volumetric and isentropic properties, isothermal titration calorimetery, conductivity measurement, light scattering,FT-IR, Raman, surface tension measurement, diffusion mesurement, heat capacity measurement, fluorescence measurement, x-ray diffraction and equilibrium properties. Sodium alkyl sulfonates [CH3–(CH2)n-1–SO3Na] are one of the most important class of anionic surfactants which can form the micelle in aqueous solutions and also may interact with water soluble polymers such as poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) in aqueous solutions. In this study, in order to describe thermodynamic properties of binary aqueous C7SO3Na solutions and ternary C7SO3Na + PEG + H2O solutions the vapor-liquidequilibria,volumetric, compressibility and electrical conductivity properties of sodium n-heptyl solfonate (C7SO3Na) in pure water and in aqueous poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) solutions were determined at different temperatures below and above the micellar composition range.
