چکیده :
The rapid growth of e-commerce has fundamentally transformed the way customers interact with products, services, and digital marketplaces. As online platforms continue to expand, users are increasingly exposed to a vast number of product choices, promotional messages, and information sources. Although this abundance provides convenience and accessibility, it also creates serious challenges such as information overload, decision fatigue, and reduced purchase confidence. In this context, personalized recommendation systems have become a strategic component of modern e-commerce platforms. These systems help users discover relevant products, improve the shopping experience, increase engagement, and support business objectives such as higher conversion rates, customer retention, and long-term loyalty.
This paper aims to propose a comprehensive data-driven framework for designing personalized recommendation systems in e-commerce environments. Unlike traditional rule-based approaches that rely on predefined assumptions or static decision rules, the proposed framework emphasizes the systematic use of user data, behavioral patterns, transactional records, and interaction histories. The main purpose of the framework is to support adaptive, intelligent, and continuously improving recommendation processes that can respond to changes in user preferences over time.
The study adopts a conceptual and design-oriented research methodology. Rather than empirically testing a specific algorithm, it focuses on developing a structured framework that connects the major components required for effective personalization. The proposed framework consists of four interrelated components: user data collection, data processing and feature engineering, recommendation engine, and feedback and learning mechanism. In the first component, data are collected from multiple sources, including browsing history, purchase records, product ratings, clickstream behavior, and user interaction logs. These data provide valuable insights into user interests, needs, and behavioral tendencies.
In the second component, raw data are processed and transformed into meaningful features. Feature engineering plays a critical role in improving the quality of recommendation outputs by identifying indicators such as purchase frequency, recency of interaction, product preferences, category interests, and user engagement patterns. In the third component, the recommendation engine uses these processed features to generate personalized product suggestions. This engine is designed to support dynamic updates, allowing recommendations to evolve as user behavior changes. Finally, the feedback and learning mechanism monitors user responses to recommendations and uses this information to refine the recommendation logic over time.
The proposed framework highlights that the effectiveness of recommendation systems in e-commerce depends not only on algorithmic accuracy but also on the existence of an integrated, scalable, and adaptive system architecture. By combining data analytics, personalization logic, and continuous feedback, e-commerce businesses can deliver more relevant experiences and improve both customer satisfaction and commercial performance. The framework also provides a foundation for future empirical studies, particularly those that apply real-world datasets, evaluate recommendation effectiveness, and integrate advanced machine learning techniques to enhance personalization accuracy.
