The performance of shore side firefighters in combating fire onboard ship alongside berth

When a fire occurs on board a ship alongside the berth, it usually involves shoreside firefighters. Whether the ship's crew extinguish the fire on their own or request assistance from shoreside firefighters depends on the fire size and ship crew ability. Experienced shoreside firefighters are available. However, it is clear that port firefighters do not wait and usually respond according to the location of the fire. Since the port and the infrastructure belong to them, and they think if fire goes out of control, it will surely have more destructive consequences. First if all shoreside firefighters are not familiar with the construction and design of ships, and on the other hand, the design and construction of ships are also different, and it is possible that local and port firefighters have little training or experience in this regard. Moreover, the captain and the crew of the ship are not also fully confident that the shoreside firefighters have proper training and know how to deal with the fire onboard ship and the full operation of the fire extinguishing operation on the ship. In this article, very briefly types of fire equipment - Detection Systems and Fire Alarm are addressed then related challenges and performance of shoreside firefighters in dealing with extinguishing fire onboard ships as long as ships are berthed alongside in ports are addressed.
