چکیده

In this research, an attempt has been made to improve the adhesion and water resistance of an acryliccoating. To achieve this goal, a polyurethane was designed and synthesized using polypropyleneglycol, ۴,۴ʹ-methylenediphenyl diisocyanate, and an unsaturated fatty alcohol. This polyurethane wascopolymerized with acrylic monomers and styrene with a composition of ۵ wt. % to prepare a solventbasedacrylic-polyurethane formulation. The hybrid coating exhibited a pull-off strength and scratchresistance of ۱.۷-fold and ۳-fold that of the acrylic coating, respectively. Furthermore, the hybridcoating had higher water resistance considering both water contact angle and long-term waterabsorption.
