With the expansion of industries and the growing population, environmental pollutants have become more complex, including pharmaceuticals, insecticides, color pollutants, disinfectants and surfactants. The presence of these types of pollutants in surface and underground waters is considered a potential risk for the health of human society and other living organisms and can have destructive effects. On the other hand, in the last few decades, the reduction of underground resources, the lack of drinking water resources, and the contamination of water resources by drugs, especially antibiotics, have raised widespread concerns. Various processes have been used to remove these pollutants, however, complete degradation of pollutants cannot be achieved. For example, adsorption and coagulation methods cause dangerous secondary pollution only due to the transfer of pollutants from the liquid phase to the solid phase. Biological methods are considered as one of the simplest and least expensive methods. Since pharmaceuticals are resistant to biological treatment, in most studies, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been used successfully to eliminate a wide variety of pollutants including pharmaceuticals in water and wastewater treatment. As an antibiotic contaminant, Linezolid is one of the widely used pharmaceuticals to treat major infections. In this investigation, the removal of Linezolid antibiotic from aqueous solutions has been studied.
