چکیده مقاله:
Background and Objective: Operating rooms between different parts of the hospital are very important due to special conditions of the patients, such as the openness of the surgical site and the increased risk of contamination of the body tissues with different types of infections. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the microbial contamination level of air of operating rooms of Imam Khomeini and social securityhospitals in Saqqez city and, if possible, required measures to control hospital infections. Materials and Methods: This study was performed using inactive sediment sampling during 4 months from October in 2017 to January in 2018. The Trigon Soy Agar culture medium was used. Differential tests of oxidase test, gram staining, catalase, hemolysis, endol, DNASE and SIM tests were used to identify microorganisms.Findings: The results of this study showed that the mean microbial load in the operating room and maternity of imam Khomeini Hospital and operating room of social security Hospital was 120, 75 and 90 cfu/m2/hr, respectively. The highest contamination was observed in staphylococci, including Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, respectively. Conclusion: Inappropriate environmental health management of the operating room and the lack of attention to microbial contamination of air in the operating rooms, in addition to causing a problem in the process of improving patients, leads to different infections and ultimately increases the time of hospitalization, the development of illness and the increase of material and human costs.
