چکیده

Introduction: The process of blood transfusion has several stages that can be erroneous at each stage of its implementation, and the decision to transfer its products should be basedon precise clinical and laboratory indications that reflect the need for blood transfusion,Therefore, studying the knowledge of different groups of people in the field ofblood transfusion and taking care of the patient receiving blood products can identify the deficiencies and shortcomings of this knowledge in the study field and guide the medicalstaff and blood transfusion centers to correct them. Existing conditions and revision of educational programs related to transfusion medicine. Therefore, in this study, we tried todetermine the level of awareness of different medical groups in the hospital system in Afzalipour Kerman Hospital in 2009 in the new level of blood care system and in 2011 inthe Bahonar and Shafa Hospitals. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, three educational hospitals in Kerman city were selected and 130 medical personnel including assistants, interns, nurses, operating room personnel and practitioners were randomly allocated from parts where the consumption of blood products was high. (Urgency, dialysis, hematology, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, burn, hematology, heart and surgery room) were included. Each person completed a questionnaire containing four options for assessing the minimum knowledge equired for transmission, maintenance, transfusion and possible complications of blood products. The level of knowledge of each group was evaluated in relation to these cases. Results: The mean knowledge of all subjects was 16.11 ± 3.16 which indicates the average level of knowledge of individuals. The highest level of knowledge among nurses and then assistants was among the employees and the level of Internet awareness was lower than the other two groups, that this difference was statistically significant (P value =0/001).The level of awareness among men and women and also among the different age groups is not significant. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the level of knowledge of various medical groups, especially physicians, was not favorable in relation to different aspects of transfusion medicine. Suggestions are made to improve this trend. It is advisable to provide practical training courses for transfusion medicine in theory and practice for medical students, especially at internships as well as for assistants in various fields.
