چکیده

In this study catalytic naphtha reforming was modeled in the presence of catalyst deactivation. The performance of the reactors was investigated using heterogeneous and homogeneous models. The models were validated against historical plant data of naphtha reformer plant. The values of activation energies in reaction kinetics were estimated for Pt-Re catalyst. Good agreements were achieved and both models were found to predict identical results under industrial operating conditions. To investigate the effect of inlet gas velocity on the similarity of gas and solid phases the reactor was modeled at different inlet flow rates. The simple homogeneous model represents a useful tool for simulation of naphtha reforming at industrial conditions. Introducing such a simple model reduces the number of typical states to half, and this in itself will significantly reduce the level of computation in the model base estimators.
