The present study has dealt with explicitation which is one of the translation universals. It has examined three Persian translations of 'The Lovely Bones' – a novel written by A. Sebold – to find out whether there is any significant difference among them in terms of explicitness in translation. The three translations examined in the study belong to Qazinejad, Mo'tazed and Ashrafi, respectively. The study also has aimed to determine which translation is the most successful in explicating the text. Kludy’s (2003) classification has been used as the theoretical framework of the study. The data regarding explicitation have been extracted from the three translations on the basis of the categories of the model. Then, the frequency of explicitation strategies present in the three translations has been calculated and then compared with each other. The findings of the study indicate that there exist some differences among translations, Mo'tazed's was the most explicit, and 'addition' was the most frequent strategy.
