Organic-Inorganic hybrid catalyst of MCM-41/PAA (polyacrylic acid) synthesized with very high performance. The prepared acidic composite catalyst was characterized by using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). This hybrid acid-catalyzed, three-component reaction between an aldehyde, a ß-ketoester and urea (biginelli reaction) constitutes a rapid and facile synthesis of dihydropyrimidones, which are interesting compounds with a potential for pharmaceutical application. The condensation reaction (biginelli reaction) was conducted with using microwave irradiation without any solvent in accordance to green chemistry. All products were characterized on the basis of their spectroscopic data such as 1H- NMR, IR spectra and physical data.
