The effect of rehabilitation exercises with vitamin D consumption on thebody composition of people with osteosarcoma cancer after bone marrowstem cell transplantation

چکیده

Background and purpose: Osteosarcoma is a malignant bone tumor that arises fromBackground and purpose: Osteosarcoma is a malignant bone tumor that arises fromprimary bone-forming cells, and the production of malignant bone material is its prominenthistological sign. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rehabilitationexercises with vitamin D consumption on the body composition of people withosteosarcoma cancer after bone marrow stem cell transplantation.Materials and methods: This study was experimental. ۴۰ female patients withosteosarcoma cancer with a body mass index above ۳۰ kg/m۲, age ۲۴.۹۰±۴.۰۳ years,height ۱۶۳.۸۵±۳.۶۲ cm and weight ۸۲.۱۷±۴.۵ kg were the research subjects. The subjectswere randomly divided into four groups (control) (patient-exercise), (patient-exerciseplacebo)and (patient-exercise-vitamin D). The training protocol includes ten weeks ofPilates sports activity, three sessions per week (۳۰ sessions). The weekly supplement groupconsumed ۵۰۰ IU of vitamin D for ۱۰ weeks. Data were analyzed using dependent t-testand covariance analysis (P=۰.۰۵).Findings: The results of the research showed that after ten weeks of vitamin D intakefollowed by Pilates, the body composition of people with osteosarcoma cancer decreasedsignificantly (P≤۰.۰۵).Conclusion: Based on the obtained results, it seems that the consumption of vitamin Dalong with sports rehabilitation can be an effective treatment method to reduce the bodycomposition of people with osteosarcoma cancer.
