چکیده

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become increasingly important in urban water and sewage network management. This article presents a review of the literature on the use of GIS in this field and discusses its benefits, challenges, and case studies of successful implementation. The article highlights the importance of GIS in managing the complex infrastructure of urban water and sewage networks. GIS allows for the collection, analysis, and visualization of spatial data, which can improve decision-making and resource allocation. GIS can be used for asset management, monitoring, and planning, and can help reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance customer service. However, there are also several challenges associated with implementing GIS in water and sewage network management. These include the high cost of implementation, the need for specialized personnel, and the need to integrate GIS with other systems. The article presents case studies of successful implementation of GIS in various cities around the world, including Philadelphia, Pune, Lima, Melbourne, Calgary, Lisbon, New York City, Chennai, Buenos Aires, and Singapore. These case studies demonstrate the benefits of using GIS in urban water and sewage network management, including improved accuracy and completeness of infrastructure data, better decision-making, reduced costs, and improved customer service. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of using GIS in urban water and sewage network management and provides recommendations for future research and development in this area. It suggests that more research is needed on the integration of GIS with other systems, the development of standard protocols and best practices, and the use of emerging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. Overall, the article highlights the significant benefits of using GIS in managing urban water and sewage networks, but also acknowledges the challenges associated with implementation. It provides a valuable resource for those involved in the management of water and sewage networks and suggests that further research and development in this area can lead to even greater improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of these vital systems.
