Polymer/clay nanocomposites are the subject of intense research efforts in recent years. Polypropylene (PP), as one of the general plastics, when filled with nanoclay or nanoparticles can be one of the suitable choice substitute for high performance engineering plastic. Melt blending [1–3], solution blending [4-5], and in situ polymerization [6–9] methods have been used to prepare PP/clay nanocomposites. However it is not an easy task to prepare exfoliated PP/clay nanocomposites with the first two methods, due to the incompatibility of hydrophobic PP and hydrophilic clay. Therefore, in situ polymerization is most effective method to prepare exfoliated PP/clay nanocomposites compared with melt and solution blending methods [10].Ziegler-Natta catalysts are mostly used for industrial production of olefinic polymer such as isotactic polypropylene and high density and linear low-density polyethylene [11].In this work, bi-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst of TiCl4/MgCl2 (ethoxide type)/clay was used to prepare PP/clay nanocomposites. The morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of prepared nanocomposites, were investigated in this research and compared with those of samples that obtained from melt blending. The thermo-mechanical properties of prepared samples were considerably improved at rather low content of clay in polymeric matrix
